Why can't I log into EBSCO databases?

Answer

When accessing EBSCO resources through the library's webpage (which includes the centrally-located search box), you may be prompted to sign in via the SMWC-branded Microsoft sign in if you have not yet logged into another College service (Canvas, email, etc.). This can be as simple as selecting your active account, or as "involved" as entering your email address and password for the first time. If you start your search in the Quick Search box, a gray ribbon will appear on the results page indicating you need to click the link to gain authorized access.

EBSCO's interface includes a "MyEBSCO" link at the top right of the page that may display a call out to "Sign In." You DO NOT need to click this link and sign in to be able to search and use the database, or to access full text files. This link is used to create an EBSCO account, which enables you to create folders, save results, make notes, etc. The credentials used for the EBSCO account are created and managed by you. Entering your SMWC email address and password will result in a error, unless you created those to be the username and password for your EBSCO account.
